| Biological cells generate and emit electromagnetic fields in the form of ultraweak biophotons, covering the frequency range of up to several THz. Both theoretical and experimental studies have shown that these biophotons are generated from coherent electromagnetic fields within the cell and that in the optical range, the one source of these biophotons could be the denaturation of DNA. Recent interest in this field emanates from the observation that the properties of these biophotons can be used to determine the physiological state of the cell and the tissue, including its destruction due to onset of cancer. In this talk the subject of bioelectromagnetic field and biophotonics will be introduced and its impact on the further development of bio-nanoscience will be discussed.
