| | Prof. Irena Swanson of New Mexico State University, USA, will be visiting School of Mathematics of IPM during Jan. 6 - 29, 2002.
Prof. Swanson's major research interest is commutative algebra. During her visit, Prof. Swanson will conduct a short course in "Tight Closure" for about ten days and will present two lectures on "Primary Decomposition".
In 1986, Professors C. Huneke and M. Hochster introduced the concept of "Tight Closure". Since then it grew very rapidly to become one of the major activities of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry.
