Fast and reliable delivery of information over a computer network is a tough proposition, especially when the network suffers from long latency and losses. One way to solve such problems is to encode the information and send encoded information instead of the original one. This method calls for the design of erasure codes with extremely fast encoding and decoding algorithms. In this talk we will discuss such applications of coding to networking problems. We will also briefly discuss the solutions and products offered by Digital Fountain.
