We present the basic results concerning isoartinian and isonoethe- rian rings and modules. These rings and modules, which were essentially defined in two papers of ours recently published in the Journal of Algebra, generalize artinian and noetherian rings and modules. In particular, here we focus on the isoradical of a ring, which is a generalization of the Jacobson radi- cal, and modules generated by isosimple modules, which generalize semisimple modules. Open problems are given at the end of each section.
