We have investigated the zero and finite temperature behavior of the
XXZ spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain in the presence of a transverse
magnetic field (h). The phase diagram of this model has been
studied by exact diagonalization method. The standard order
parameters (magnetization, staggered magnetization) and the
entanglement estimators have been obtained at zero temperature. We
have also studied the specific heat of the model versus temperature
for different values of h. For an intermediate region
(hf < h < hc) the specific heat has two maxima, a sharp and a broaden
one. The broaden peak of the specific heat is the characteristic of
a spin liquid phase where there is no long range order in the ground
state. The entanglement estimators also justify the presence of spin
liquid phase in the intermediate region.
